Any business process that requires forms for activation, approval, review, archiving etc can be called as Form Based Business Process.
Form Based Business Process help us to:
- Gather information so that it can be reused and shared across business processes and throughout the organization.
- Collect information quickly and validate it against organization’s business criteria. This helps reduce errors, prevents from having to re–work, and can help in getting the needed information more quickly and accurately.
- Structure information gathering processes that are difficult to manage or require excessive manual review and validation.
- Take advantage of existing IT investments and knowledge to ease deployment costs.
- Provides a flexible way to collect information so that one can adjust to changing business conditions.
Work done by Criti using forms driven business processes
- Criti implemented a collaborative workspace solution where our clients can jointly work on documents using MOSS content lifecycle–management capabilities. We streamlined and automated business processes and enabled our client’s staff to more effectively manage the collection, distribution, and integration information with InfoPath Forms capabilities. Additionally, out–of–the–box workflows enable information to be automatically routed to the appropriate person at each stage of the business cycle.
- For our internal purposes, we use MOSS forms and workflows extensively. Many administrative functions are handled through form and workflows including hiring, annual reviews, employee transfers to different projects, changes in labor rates, change in benefits and more. We created specialized forms for requests and workflows to handle the review and approval processes. We created a repository of reusable workflows in Visual Studio 2005/2008 as well as custom workflows using Microsoft SharePoint Designer. We have also developed entire solutions that leverage both forms and workflows. Our site provisioning solution, for instance, is used by team members to request the creation of a site via a customized workflow that includes all details needed to determine whether a similar site already exist as well as information on how to route the request for approval to the appropriate division and administration group. This solution enables us to avoid the unmanaged proliferation of SharePoint site while properly decentralize their administration.
